This year marks the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and commemorative events are planned throughout the San Diego area-from memorial services to parades to concerts. This is a sample.

Chula Vista Heroes Night: The Chula Vista Police Department Foundation will be held at the Easton Archery Center at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center at 2800 Olympic Park Road from 4 to 8 pm on Saturday "Heroes Night" event. The fundraising campaign helped support men, women and K-9s in the Chula Vista Police Department. The ticket is 150 dollars. This year's event includes a special 9/11 tribute. Coronado 9/11 Memorial Ceremony: Coronado firefighters, police, lifeguards, and local military personnel will hold a brief ceremony at 6:45 on Saturday morning at No. 36 Fire Station, 1001 Sixth Street, to pray , Silence and symbolically ring the station bell to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attack. DEL MAR 9/11 Memorial Concert: Saxophone player Branford Marsalis and the all-star orchestra mainly Mozart, conducted by David Chan, perform "A Path Forward" at 7:30 on Saturday night at the Del Mar Surf Cup Sports Park , This is a memorial concert (formerly San Diego Polo Stadium). The concert was held in cooperation with the National Conflict Resolution Center. ESCONDIDO Ceremony and Barbecue: The Brothers of 6 group will host a Patriot Day Memorial Ceremony and Barbecue at American Legion Post 149, 230 E. Park Ave on Saturday. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4:30 pm and includes a speech by the Color Guardian introducing the Mayor of Escondido, Paul McNamara. LAKESIDE 9/11 Memorial Walk: Meet and greet the walkers of the Maine Avenue Revival Association at Mary's Donuts at 10101 Maine Avenue at 6:30 pm on Saturday. The walk starts at 6:45 pm and heads to the Lakeside Historical Society at 9906 Maine Avenue. The ceremony includes the emcee Andrew Hayes, Kelly Rice singing "The Stars and Stripes" and three speakers. Call (619) 909-2994.

LA MESA 9/11 Remembrance Day: The American Veterans Association will host this event at the Vietnam Memorial next to the La Mesa Veterans Club (American Veterans Association, Post No. 282 and Foreign War Veterans, Ship No. 1774) on Saturday at 11 am Events. The club is located at 8118 University Ave., on the corner of Spring Street and University Avenue. The commander, deputy commander and chaplain of the regiment will provide memorials and prayers.

NATIONAL CITY Online 9/11 Commemorative Ceremony: National City, the city fire department, police station and local firefighters 2744 will hold an online commemorative event from 8:30 am to 10:30 am on Saturday. The event will be broadcast live on the local 2744 Facebook page of national city and national city firefighters. Ocean 9/11 never forget. Half Marathon: Saturday at 8:30 am to noon at the Oceanside Municipal Pier. 20th Anniversary Celebration: As part of the "last mile" walking ceremony, the Oceanside Fire and Police Department held a 9/11 commemorative event at the Junior Seau Oceanside Pier Amphitheater at 9 am on Saturday. There will be a ceremonial "last mile" walk that morning. The performance will be held at the flagpole of the Civic Center of the City Hall at 8:30 in the morning. At approximately 8:45, the group will walk to The Strand in Surfrider to meet the others, and then head to the amphitheater. Visit ci.oceanside.ca.us/cals. At approximately 9:03 am (the time when the second tower was hit), the commemoration will begin. 9/11 Remembrance: The St. Thomas More Catholic Church held the "A Moment of Silence and Music to commemorate a historic day in the United States: September 11, 2001" for the 20th anniversary of the founding of 9/11 in the church at 1pm on Saturday, 1450 S . Melrose drives. The 70-minute performance consisted of the Concordia Orchestra conducted by Jeff Held, the color display of the Oceanside Fire Department, the taps for bagpipes and "Strange Grace". POWAY 56th Poway Rotary Parade: commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with the theme of "Memorializing Our Community Heroes". The parade starts at 9 am on Saturday morning and includes high school bands and equestrian troops, pageant courts and first responders. Participants of the parade will start at the intersection of Poway Road and Pomerado Road and drive eastward along Poway Road at 9 am, and will end at Bowron Road near Poway Library at about 11 am. RANCHO BERNARDO 9/11 Heroes Run: 5K will be held on Saturday at 8:30 am at Rancho Bernardo High School, 13010 Paseo Lucido. The event unites the international community with the goal of "Never forget the sacrifice of the hero on September 11 and the war that followed: veterans, first responders, civilians, and the military." San Diego 20th Anniversary on September 11, 2001: Pay tribute to the fallen heroes on the flight deck of the Midway Museum at 910 N. Harbour Drive, Navy Pier, at 2:30 pm on Saturday. The guard of honor displays colors, pipes and drums, national anthem, reading the names of first responders and tolling bells, as well as emergency helicopter flyovers, U.S. Navy bands, twenty-one gun salutes, water taps, and port police fire boats on the water. ROTC Commemorative Event: The San Diego State University Reserve Officer Training Corps will hold a public commemorative event on the Hepner Hall campus at 8:40 AM on Monday. First responders from the Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, and Navy Reserve Officer Training Teams, as well as the San Diego State University Police Department and the San Diego Fire Department will attend. The memorial will observe a moment of silence at 8:46 am to commemorate the moment when the North Tower of the World Trade Center Complex was hit. The event will also ring a bell to recognize the 20 years that have passed since the attack, as well as speakers, including SDSU Chairman Adela de la Torre.

9/11 Memorial Stair Climbing: Harrah's Resort South California and Rincon Fire Department held this event at 10 am on Saturday morning to commemorate the people who made the final sacrifice 20 years ago. Participants were invited to climb 110 flights of stairs in the north tower of the resort, which is the height of the tower of the World Trade Center. Stair climbing is not a timed race or event, it is open to everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. Registration is free and will open at the North Tower on Saturday. Donations will be collected on site, and the Rincon tribe will match all donations received. All proceeds from Stair Climb will be donated to Tunnels to Towers, a foundation that provides unsecured housing for families of military and emergency personnel. The casino is located at 777 Harrah's Rincon Way.
