Have you ever wanted to learn how to play the ukulele?

Well, if you're looking to introduce music to yourself, your family, friends or children, the Port Moody Public Library (PMPL) has added a unique collection to its rental list.

As of Monday (July 12), card-wielding residents can borrow a ukulele kit for up to three weeks - or possibly longer - and use its tutorial options for lessons.

According to Statista, nearly 1.5 million ukuleles were sold in the United States last year, making it one of the most popular instruments on the market.

The difference between a soprano and concert ukulele is the sound.

Sopranos have a jangly sound and are the most common as they're meant for beginners, while concerts have a fuller sound.

In addition to the lesson book, the library says it has other resources "to help you on your ukulele journey" and the instrument can be borrowed for longer than the three-week window if there's no wait list.

For more options and more information, you can visit the PMPL's website.

If you feel ready to perform in front of others, the library has a virtual ukulele jam scheduled for July 26 and Aug. 30.
