Homicide detectives on Wednesday identified the 79-year-old Lakeside woman who authorities believe was killed by her adult son Monday in the Winter Gardens area.
Judith Terrebonne Anderson died from “sharp force injuries,” San Diego sheriff’s Lt. Joel Stranger said in a news release, citing the results of an autopsy by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The victim’s son, 50-year-old Arleigh Clifford Anderson, has been arrested on suspicion of killing his mother. He was scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge Wednesday in El Cajon Superior Court and remained jailed without bail.
The victim was killed sometime before 1:15 p.m. Monday at a home on Riverview Avenue south of Lemon Crest Drive, authorities said. Arleigh Anderson called 911 around that time and told a dispatcher “he took too much of his medication, doesn’t remember what happened, but thinks he hurt his mom pretty bad,” sheriff’s Lt. Mike Krugh said Monday.
Deputies arrived to the home to find the victim gravely injured inside the residence. She was unresponsive, had obvious signs of trauma and died before she could be taken to a hospital, Stranger said.
