It has been no secret in the last year that Rogers Drums is returning to the land of the living. The legendary drum brand had its greatest success in the ’50s and ’60s and was notable for its innovations in drums and hardware, as well as for the drummers who played Rogers from Earl Palmer and Louie Bellson to Mick Fleetwood and Tommy Ramone. Though production was discontinued in the 1980s, over the decades Rogers has remained one of the top vintage brands, building a large following of devoted fans, and distinctly influencing modern drum builders.

Now, its relaunch is official. Rogers USA has announced the rebirth of the brand and a reborn version of its iconic Dyna-Sonic snare drum. The company’s goal is to combine the vision of veteran players, builders, and vintage experts in order to give today’s drummers the opportunity to experience the vintage sound, innovations, and visual beauty that the original brand was famous for. According to Big Bang Distribution, which represents Rogers, “Our shared goal is to be as innovative as the products we make, and to expand the brand’s pioneering vision forward using 21st Century manufacturing for consistency and quality. Our mission is to satisfy Roger’s hardcore vintage enthusiasts and introduce today’s generation of drummers to the legacy of the true Rogers sound.”

The snare drum that changed the game with its design in the mid-20th century is back in a stunning, faithful remake of the classic. The ten-lug Dyna-Sonic is meticulously based on the design and styling of the rare, original wood shell snare model (most Dyna-Sonics were chrome over brass). The new Dyna-Sonics are constructed of select North American hardwoods and finished in White Marine Pearl, Black Diamond Pearl, and Silver Sparkle with precision-cast, chromed hardware.

“At the heart of the drum,” says Bob Kasha, “is the Rogers proprietary, floating snare rail system, designed to provide extraordinary sensitivity and control that has never been matched.” Beautifully appointed with the Rogers script logo, oval badge, and clock face throw-off, the new Rogers Dyna-Sonic is available in two classic sizes: 14” x 5” and 14” x 6.5”.

Demand for Rogers parts among collectors and devotees is expected to be significant. To honor and support the brand’s history, Rogers USA is introducing a complete selection of authentic Dyna-Sonic Replacement Parts. Accurately re-created to the original dimensions and mounting hole patterns, these are beautifully-chromed, die-cast parts and accessories to replace old, broken or missing parts on original Rogers drums and should be welcomed by owners. This includes all Dyna-Sonic hardware: lugs, rims, throw-off, butt-end, tone control, logo badge, snares, and snare rail.
