The Lake Oswego community didn't have to wait long after the annual Fourth of July parade to enjoy another fun-filled event.

The 2022 Summer of Music concert series began July 6 and continues at Foothills Park, Millennium Plaza Park and Westlake Park through July and August.

More specifically, the Foothills lineup will feature Todd Haaby July 24, Aaron Meyer Trio Aug. 7 and Mbrascatu Aug. 21, all starting at 6 p.m.; the Millennium Plaza lineup includes Soul Vaccination July 6, Nate Botsford July 13, Eagle Eyes July 20 and Red Light Romeos July 27, all starting at 7 p.m.; and Westlake Park will host Kalimba Aug. 3, Precious Byrd Aug. 10, Shades of Huey Aug. 17 and Hit Machine Aug. 24, all starting at 6:30 p.m.

"Someone once told me summer in Lake Oswego is like being on vacation every day, because we have a community event almost every day of the week," said Jamie Inglis, the events and organic education supervisor for the city of Lake Oswego. "We worked really hard on the lineup this year given it's been a few years since COVID (started). The lineup, in my opinion, is one of the best we have had in a lot of years."

Inglis said that the Wednesday concerts will feature upbeat music designed to get people on their feet, while the Sunday night showcases will likely have a smaller audience but boast an impressive array of musicians. A few she highlighted included Sylvester, a saxophonist who plays R&B and jazz, Haaby, a flamenco guitarist, and Myer, a rock violinist.

"When it comes to musicianship, the performers on Sunday are incredible. They are some of the most talented performers you'll see in the Pacific Northwest, period," she said.

The events will also have five-to-six vendors and Inglis said people are welcome to bring their own food or purchase food on site. Parking instructions are listed on the website. For more information, visit www.ci.oswego.or.us/concerts.

"These concerts really showcase how special our community is in the summer," Inglis said. "They give you the opportunity to socialize with friends and neighbors, connect with vendors and local musicians and remember how special it is to be in LO, especially in the summer."
