Golden Productions hosted "Get Your Mind Right 2" and "Christmas Extravaganza" and talent show at the Ritz Hotel in downtown Shawnee on Saturday, December 4.

According to co-host Jamelle Payne (also known as Mr. Untouchable), the event was a success and he co-hosted the event with creator Travis Burdine (also known as Mr. Don Bugatti).

"It continues to shine," Payne said of the incident. "We feel this is one of the many little puzzles that the community needs to bring people of all ages together for fun, love and laughter."

Payne said that talent shows are suitable for people of all ages.

"This is a competition for singers from all music genres of all ages, from Kenny Chesney, Michael Jackson's acoustic guitar, and even Akabella," Payne said.

He explained the performances of various contestants, including JV Vanderlung, Jasmine Hope Browman, Willie Raynor, Austin Washington, Damion Atkinson, Julieann Caprice, DaVante Barkus, Kylar Spriggs, William Gaines, Kansas City "Smack Man", Jeremiah Wright, Elite Dance Diversity, ManMan DaDon, Nick Beats, Danerro Staxx, The 6'3, Joe Tamus and 4.E. Seventeen.

"Together with Jeremiah Wright's live piano artist and William Gaines drum performance," Payne said, "and ended the night with local rap performances by Joe Tamus, Sk4L and Man Man DaDon."

He said that the show started with Shawnee’s gospel queen, Annes Gilmore-Young.

Payne said there was a performance award totaling $500, split equally between the female winner and singer Julieann Caprice and the male winner and rap artist ManMan DaDon.

In addition, Payne stated that the winner of the final round was Randee Stone, who took away Automax Shawnee's grand prize-a $500 voucher to pay for the down payment or discount deduction.

Payne explained that this is the second time to host a local talent show, because last year it was very successful, and he and Burding wanted to hold it again.

"Getting your thinking right the first time is so successful for people of all ages. We want everyone to come together again for the Christmas edition," Payne said. "Before YouTube, Snap Chat, and Instagram, we did just that-we got together to cheer for each other. This is a kind of energy you can't get through the like or love button."

Payne said the best part of this event was seeing it come together.

"(We) agree (we) see the magic of all this coming together, watching the artists show themselves with the love and support of the community, making (our) heartbeat even stronger," he said.

Payne explained that the reaction from the audience was very positive because people encouraged Matthew Kent of the Shawnee Fire Department to open a big Christmas box with nothing during the Christmas game.

Payne said that Automax Shawnee representative John Lindsay also announced that they will hold a canned food event before December 31 to help the community.
