Cambridge Audio is the British audio brand that’s been producing some of the best mid-range audio gear for half a century. A couple of years ago, the company launched its own range of true wireless earbuds under the Melomania brand and has received plaudits for bringing hi-fi sound to the earbud market.

Now Cambridge Audio has released a significant firmware update for its popular Melomania Touch model of true wireless in-ear earphones that offers improved Bluetooth connectivity, in-app EQ presets, plus more refinement to customize the functionality of the earbud touch controls. Owners of existing Melomania Touch can update their Melomania app to the latest version and then download the latest firmware so they can benefit from the enhancements. Once they’ve been updated to the new Firmware Update V2.1.9, users will experience lower background noise during voice calls and when the Transparency Mode is enabled.

I’ve applied the firmware update to a pair of Melomania Touch and noticed an improvement in volume controls so that the sound completely mutes when the earbuds are set to minimum volume. There’s also a new Neutral EQ present offered in the updated app. The EQ preset that was previously called Balanced is now known as Immersive

The Melomania Touch now have an improved auto power on/off function along with better behaviour of the LED status indicators. Along with the subtle changes introduced by the new firmware, users should experience better performance when compared with earlier firmware and apps. I can confirm this, as the first sample of Melomania Touch that I tried had problems when updating the firmware and that issue has now been fixed.
